Call for Abstracts

Deadline for receipt of abstracts: 15 June 2009
Full papers for inclusion in the Proceedings are required by 14 July.

We encourage you to submit original work for consideration. Papers on all aspects of hyperbaric technology medicine and physiology are welcome. We are particularly looking for submissions in the following areas:

  • Health technology assessment and Hyperbaric Medicine
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning - epidemiology, pathophysiology and treatment
  • Post radiotherapy tissue damage
  • Diabetic wound healing
  • Decompression illness - epidemiology, diagnosis, pathophysiology, treatment and prevention
  • Long term health effects of diving
  • Environmental physiology

Work can be presented as either a poster or an oral presentation. The final decision on this will be made by the abstract assessors - but you can of course indicate a preference that you would not wish your work to be called for an oral presentation. We may select some abstracts authors to give a longer oral presentation.

Abstract submission closed on 15 June 2009.
The Earlybird Booking Rates will be available for presenters with accepted abstracts until 15 July.

Guidelines for abstract submission
Abstracts should be:
  • written in English in Microsoft Word 2003 compatible files
  • Font: Arial 11, single spaced, left justified
  • "camera-ready" to fit on 1 sheet of A4 paper
  • Margins: left 25 mm, right 25 mm, top 25 mm, bottom 30 mm
  • Tables: font Arial 10 incorporated into document

Please indicate the authors' names and affiliations, identifying the presenting author (eg by underlining). Please show initials in front of the family name.

All values should be given in SI units. In human studies, evidence of informed consent and approval by the institutional ethical committee is obligatory. The abstract should contain clear data - remarks such as "results will be discussed during the conference" are not accepted.

We strongly suggest structuring the Abstract with Headings such as:

  • Aims
  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion

Full papers should be not more than 6 pages of A4 formatted as for abstracts.

Please email Abstracts to hyperbaric@abdn.ac.uk
Full Papers and Posters for inclusion in the Proceedings should be sent to the same address.

Please submit an abstract (as above).
If selected, posters will also be included in the proceedings - full text, layout and legible font size when printed at A4 format (297 x 210 mm). They can be transmitted as ZIP-compressed image (TIF, JPEG or PDF)

Please indicate if you wish your poster to be entered for the Zetterstroem Award.
